Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion” (Col 1:9).
God’s will for all His children is that we would enjoy the liberty of princes and princesses in the royal Family of God. His plan is not for any of us to be a toy in the hands of the enemy. He never planned that any of His people should remain in slavery in the kingdom of darkness.
On the first day of creation, God created Day and Night. Afterwards, He created the firmament, the earth, the sea, the fruit yielding trees, the sea creatures, and the living creatures upon the earth. And God saw that it was good. However, none of these creatures was in God’s likeness. None of them could have a relationship with Him, hence none of the creatures could fellowship with Him.
Therefore, on the sixth day of creation, as recorded in the 26th verse of the 1st Chapter of Genesis, God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over the whole earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
This statement above reveals the purpose of God for creating man. God Almighty said: “Let us make man in our image…and let them have dominion”. He declared that man would be just like Him; man would be someone who could commune with God and be His companion; man would also be God’s delegated ruler of the universe.
However, Adam lost the nature of God, his estate, and the dominion given to him by God and became a slave in the kingdom of darkness. Although Adam lost it all, God has brought about a restoration in Christ Jesus. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. We have been recreated in Christ Jesus and the original relationship has been restored.
Though man fell from this original position because of Adam’s rebellion, God’s original destiny for humanity has not changed. This original objective is what God is working on today in the Body of Christ. God is working to the end that man may totally become His son, a partaker of His very nature, become genuine heirs and joint-heirs with Christ Jesus, and step back into the position of dominion destined for them.
God Chose You for Relationship and Fellowship
There are three principal objectives in the mind of God for making man that we must be cognizant off from the account in Genesis.
The first is relationship. In making man, God formed a special being in His own image. He gave birth to him. He formed man’s body out of the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. Thus, the real man, which is his spirit, came from God; his body came from the earth. Man, therefore, is related to God by birth and is in God’s class of being.
The second objective is fellowship. Man was created to be a companion to God as there was no being in the universe to commune with Him before man was brought forth. God desired fellowship with a family and man was the answer to this yearning. Man was created to meet this yearning of God’s heart for a family of children in the likeness of the Father with whom He can fellowship.
As you know, you can only have true fellowship with your kind. Man can only have true fellowship with humankind and not with a gorilla or a chimpanzee. In the same manner, God can only have fellowship with man–whom He has made in His own likeness.
The third objective, which is as a result of the first two stated above, is to make man the absolute ruler of the whole of creation. Man was the crown of creation and destined to be God’s under-ruler of the earth. Being the child of the Creator, the Possessor of heaven and earth, man has been delegated to rule the universe. Without doubt, man did exactly that while he was in fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden.
Our new birth in Christ Jesus restores our relationship with God, brings us back to close fellowship with Him, and restores the dominion that God gave to us in the beginning. However, we do not yet see, because of the veil of the flesh, the full manifestation of these yet.
Many Christians are not conversant with what the Scriptures say about their position as new creatures in Christ. They have been taught that they are still unworthy sinners, weak worms of the dust, and under the control of Satan the god of this world. They still hold the belief that they are too unworthy to have their prayers answered and are not taught on their rights in the Name of Jesus. Their sense of unworthiness has robbed them of all spiritual initiative and kept them in a state of bondage to fear and ignorance. They have not been taught that the sin problem had been totally and forever settled, and that our High Priest has completed our atonement and is gone into the Holiest of All for us all.
The fall cost man everything. He lost the divine nature of God that he inherited the day He was brought forth. He lost access to God and lost the dominion God gave him over creation. But God who is rich in mercy sent His Son, and He has redeemed us and restored us back to our destiny.
Dear reader, has your relationship with God been restored? Does His Spirit bear witness with your spirit right now that you are a child of God? If not, please turn to Jesus and accept Him into your heart as savior and Lord.
Do you have frequent and continual fellowship with the Father, with the Son, and with the Holy Spirit? If not, start today.
Set some time apart for personal worship and prayer, and to read and meditate on the word of God. Listen to Him while worshipping and praying, He might be speaking to you. And meditation time is when you actually keep quiet so the Holy Spirit could speak clearly to you as you silence the voice of the senses. Listen to what God would say to you. Listen quietly, be attentive, for He will speak to you.
