The Kingdom is Given to the Saints
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mar 16:17,18)
“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”
In the prophecies of Daniel, the eternal purpose of God to give “the Kingdom to the saints of the Most High” was revealed. But there’s a war to be fought to take back this kingdom which the adversary ‘legally stole’. The Almighty, the Possessor of Heaven and Earth, has given the dominion to the saints. Just as Joshua had to lead Israel across Jordan to take the land of Canaan, our Commander will lead His army of anointed ones to take the kingdom, and to possess it forever.
“I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them, Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.” (Dan 7:21-22)
The Devil understands and respects the authority from the Kingdom of the God’s Son because he, Satan, is a conquered subject of our King. Christ subjugated the kingdom of darkness and now has dominion over Satan and all his cohorts.
Because he’s a spirit being he complies with spiritual authority and is compelled to obey higher authority. We, the beloved of the Lord, must know our position and exercise our authority confidently.
Every born-again believer was created to walk in dominion and authority in the earth. Too many people live defeated lives, not knowing that they are destined to be in control right where they are. You were born to win.
Seated with HIM at the Right Hand of God
The “right hand of God” is simply a metaphor denoting the spiritual realm of all authority, power, and dominion. It is the divine realm of God’s omnipotence. The right hand of God is not a physical location somewhere in the cosmos. The throne of the God who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent spirit is not a material one, but speaks of the realm of His supreme and universal dominion. This is where our Lord Jesus Christ has been exalted to, and He’s seated on the Throne.
Glory to God! We now have access to that realm of the “Right Hand of God” for we have been raised with Christ and can seek the things above, the realm above.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, and not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Col. 3:1-3).
Ephesians 2:5-6 tells us that “when we were dead through our trespasses, God made us alive together with Christ…and raised us up with Him, and made us sit together with Him in the heavenly places (the heights of His own exaltation).” This shows that as we come to know the resurrection life of Christ, we are also made to experience the ascension of Christ. We are chosen of God not only to be made alive from the dead and have God’s life, but also to sit in the heavenly places as ascended people. He causes us to ascend with Him and sit with Him in the heavens at the right hand of God. That’s where we are seated right now. We are to seek and walk in those things which are above.
Which things? The things we are to seek are spiritual things, they are things of the right hand, things pertaining to the Throne of God. supernatural things of the Kingdom.
The word dominion also means to tread down. It means to reign or to rule over permanently. Christ tells us we are to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:17-20).
Today, you can tread or trample over serpents and scorpions and over all forms of the powers of the enemy. Serpent, as you know stands for Satan. Scorpions stands for demons and other Satanic cohorts. These and all other evil influences or devilish powers are referred to by our Lord as ‘all forms of the powers of the enemy’.
We have been given dominion over them all. Starting with Satan, his demons, and all other forms of satanic attack including: sickness, disease, oppression, depression, worry, and fear and all form of satanic opposition to your faith in this life. Christ has given you dominion to reign over them.
You are to reign in life by Christ Jesus. God created you to have dominion in the earth. Begin to exercise that God given dominion.
What does it mean to exercise dominion ?
- It begins with enjoying the life of peace, security, and joy in the Holy Ghost that the Kingdom of God has provided us in the midst of the chaos that pervades this evil world.
- It means to, by the Word of God, live in divine health above sicknesses and diseases and to enjoy divine health in this world that is filled with infirmities of all sorts.
- It is to enjoy the abundance of divine provision that the El-Shaddai has kept in store for you and to live in prosperity all the days of your life.
- To reign in life is to exercise authority, to exercise authority vested in you as a child of God over the powers of darkness and over those satanic principalities and powers that have arrayed themselves against you with the sole purpose of preventing you from entering your inheritance, reaching your God given destiny.
- To reign It is to reign over fear, and to exercise our rightful authority as ones seated in heavenly places with Christ, far above all principalities and powers. Then we begin to walk in dominion over the circumstances in life.
- It is when the members of the Body lives united together in divine wisdom and shows forth the manifold wisdom of God unto the powers and the rulers of darkness in this world. Then we begin to walk in dominion over the circumstances in life. We then become children that our Father God can be proud of.
Remember the enemy has been defeated by Christ and you’re just enforcing that victory. You are not to be wrestling with demons for hours or days as some do, it’s not your fight. That battle was already fought and won by the Lord Jesus. The Lion of the tribe of Judah already defeated the entire army of powers of darkness and won. He has given us authority over devils and all his cohorts. So trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy, you have authority over him. Christ gave you the authority. Go forth in the Name of Jesus, covered by the Blood of the Lamb and:
- Cast out devils
- Dispossess the enemy of his habitation
- Walk in Christ’s victory over the enemies’ army. Cast them out of the cities and villages—-like our Master did
- Enforce His victory using His Name, the Name above all names
- To Reign in Life, First Submit to God
For us to reign as kings in this life, we must first allow God to reign supreme in us. We first submit to God; then, through the power of God, we confront the devil, and he will flee before us. It is when our obedience is fulfilled that we’ll be ready to revenge all disobedience (2 Cor 10:6 paraphrased).
The complete admonishment from the apostle James is found in the fourth chapter of his Epistle:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” (Jam 4:7,8).
When we submit to Him, there is no limit to the power and authority that we can exercise in this world. When God reigns in us, we are able to reign as kings in life by Jesus Christ.
We are not to be unruly and disobedient children. We are children of obedience. We honor our Father God. We love Him and revere Him.
The Apostle then admonishes us on what to do with the Devil. We are not to respect him: we are to resist him. We are to oppose and contradict the devil in everything, and at all times. God expects us to use His authority to resist, confront, and withstand the devil. He expects us, by virtue of the authority delegated to us, to exercise dominion over Satan and put him to flight.
But first, God needs to reign supreme in us so we can reign as kings in this life. We shall be ready and qualified to avenge all disobedience only when our own obedience is complete.
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:” (Heb 12:27-28).
